Ricola sought to reposition itself within a younger market segment by leveraging innovative and engaging marketing solutions that would connect with a tech-savvy audience. The goal was to increase brand awareness, drive product sales, and create buzz through a memorable campaign.
 
Solution Overview:
POPCORN LABS designed and executed a dynamic, tech-driven campaign centered around gamification and artificial intelligence. By integrating WhatsApp chatbots, QR codes, and AI-powered validations, the campaign created an engaging journey that encouraged purchases and rewarded active participation.

Campaign Elements and Execution

1. Interactive Participation Flow:
• Consumers were encouraged to purchase a Ricola product and either scan a QR code found in-store or click on digital ads promoting the campaign.
• Upon scanning or clicking, users were directed to a WhatsApp chatbot that guided them through the process. The chatbot asked for basic information and prompted users to take a picture of their Ricola package.
• AI-driven image recognition verified whether the uploaded image was a legitimate Ricola box.

2. Gamified Experience:
• Upon verification, participants gained access to a month-long series of activities, including trivia and interactive challenges, to accumulate points.
• Additional points could be earned by submitting more photos of Ricola products, incentivizing repeat purchases.

3. Exciting Rewards:
• Participants competed to win high-value prizes, such as PlayStation 5 consoles, Netflix gift cards, and Spotify subscriptions, appealing to the younger demographic’s interests.
